Slinger
Specialist in the safe operation of lifting equipment
A slinger is a worker responsible for the safe fastening (slinging) of loads to lifting mechanisms (cranes, winches) and their movement, as well as for giving signals to the crane operator
The main tasks of a slinger:
- Binds and secures loads using special slings and devices, preparing them for lifting.
- Communicates with the crane operator using an established system of gestures, correcting his actions and giving commands to lift, move, and lower the load.
- Monitors the load during its movement, preventing spontaneous rotation and controlling the lifting height over obstacles.
- Unslinging the load after it has been installed in the desired location.
- Checks the condition of equipment, work areas and compliance with safety regulations.
The profession is in demand in construction, industrial enterprises and warehouse management.
This profession requires specialized training at training centers or at companies. Skills can be advanced by attaining a higher rank, allowing one to handle more complex and heavy loads.
